Digital Twin

Level-4 digital twin capability: optimised individual physical objects recomposed into an interlinked composite twin, with interoperation between those objects optimised as a whole.

Programmes

Seven digital twin programmes in delivery

Each of these is a live public-sector programme, not a demonstration. They span national land safety, mobility, construction, energy and municipal infrastructure.

01

Integrated above- and below-ground digital twin ISP

Information strategy planning for a digital twin framework that links surface and subsurface on a common 3D digital map, supporting national land and facility safety management and enabling new industries.

02

Underground Space Integrated Map digital twin

Fifteen categories of underground information — utilities, structures and ground conditions — built and managed as integrated 3D spatial data to prevent the ground subsidence and sinkhole incidents occurring across the country.

03

HD map construction for autonomous driving

Building and supplying high-definition road maps of roads and roadside infrastructure to support the commercialisation of autonomous vehicles and advanced road and traffic management.

04

Integrated construction site logistics

Digital-twin-based advance planning that minimises congestion of materials and personnel movement during construction, reducing disruption and improving on-site safety management.

05

Housing energy integrated control

Monitoring and controlling electricity consumption per apartment complex and per building, using energy usage and derived indicators for each region.

06

National base map construction

Reflecting changes in national land arising from development into the national base map database, supplying the most current and accurate maps to public institutions and general map users.

07

Municipal water and sewerage facility mapping

Integrating underground facility data nationwide so that first response is possible when incidents and disasters occur, and linking with other systems to support nationwide accident prevention.

Why it matters

A twin is only useful if it is current

Our R&D programme with ETRI targets automated change detection and continuous updating, so the underground map reflects the ground as it is today rather than as it was at survey time.
